Quimbaya Cacique (PC1015)

Reproduction is originating from the ancient Quimbaya civilization that flourished between roughly 500 BCE and 600 CE in Colombia's Middle Cauca River valley; this iconography centres on a seated cacique (chieftain or shaman) cast in ceremonial posture. Quimbaya metalsmiths were among the most technically accomplished goldsmiths of the Americas, using the lost-wax technique and tumbaga (a gold-copper alloy) to produce serene, contemplative human figures that embodied spiritual power, leadership, and the divine energy of the sun. In modern artisanal reinterpretations, the sacred Quimbaya medallion is framed with intricate pre-Hispanic filigree border work, echoing ancient trade routes and traditional Andean adornment.
