SUN MAN (PC 1024)

This piece is commonly known as the Chamán o Cacique con Tocado Semicircular (Shaman or Chief with Semicircular Headdress), also often referred to in Colombian pre-Columbian jewelery as the Hombre-Sol (Sun-Man), drawn primarily from the Calima (Yotoco period) and Tairona goldsmith traditions. In indigenous societies of ancient Colombia, these figures depicted high-ranking shamans or tribal rulers (caciques) who served as the spiritual and physical intermediaries between the human realm and the spirit world. 

Ritual Transformation: The stylized facial features and posture capture the shaman during trance or ritual transformation, often blending human anatomy with animal spirits such as birds or felines.
