Lord of Sipán (PC1021)
Limited Edition-Collectable
Originating from the ancient Moche (Mochica) civilization along the northern coast of Peru around 640-680 CE, this Masterpiece is a replica inspired by one of the royal earflares discovered in 1987 by archaeologist Walter Alva inside the intact burial of the Lord of Sipán at Huaca Rajada. In Moche society, large ear spools were elite insignias worn exclusively by high-status rulers, priests, and warriors to project supreme authority and divine military power. The original artifact, crafted from gold and intricate turquoise mosaic, depicts a three-dimensional Moche warrior lord standing in full ceremonial battle regalia, bearing a crescent headdress, war club, and shield—flanked symmetrically by two attendants. Today, the original masterpiece resides in the Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum in Lambayeque, Peru, celebrated worldwide as one of the finest and most significant pre-Columbian gold discoveries ever made.
