Originating from the indigenous metalworking traditions of pre-Columbian Colombia (predominantly celebrated across the Tairona, Tolima, and Calima cultures between 100 BCE and 1500 CE), this iconography portrays a spiritual leader or shaman undergoing transformation into a bird of prey during sacred, entheogenic rituals. Worn as a prestigious pectoral ornament by tribal caciques and priests, it served as both a talisman of divine authority and a symbol of communion with ancestral spirits, sun deities, and cosmic wisdom.
