Máscara Alada Calima (Calima Winged Mask ) PC1014

Reproduction/inspired. Originating between 200 BCE and 800 CE in the southwestern Andean valleys of Colombia (primarily the Calima region's Yotoco period), these gold masks were crafted by master indigenous goldsmiths using lost-wax casting and hammered sheet work. Rather than decorative vanity items, they were sacred ritual funerary adornments worn by high-ranking shamans and caciques (chiefs). The stylized ribbed wings extending from the face represent spiritual flight and transformation, embodying a sacred mediator crossing into the spiritual world while reflecting the divine power of the sun.
