Orecchino a Navicella (PH1013)

This piece reproduces an ancient Greek boat-shaped earring, traditionally called an orecchino a navicella.
Originating in the fourth century BCE during the Hellenistic period in southern Italy, these elaborate ornaments belonged to the Magna Graecia culture and were celebrated for their intricate gold filigree, granulation, and winged floral motifs.
The original artifact is part of the famous Gold of Taranto collection, preserved at the National Archaeological Museum of Taranto in southern Italy.
